No one knows many young people aged 12 and over are living on the street. The Feds mandate local school education, transportation, nutrition programs and more for all homeless school children. But housing and support services are few and far between.
Reduce family homelessness and give every child a chance to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There are drastic effects on 1.6 million children who experience homelessness annually. Where there’s a will there’s a way (old English proverb) to provide housing for every family, most of whom earn low wages.
We must shout out about the responsibility of owning a gun. A gun buyer should have to pass a test to prove s/he will be a safe gun owner. Background checks must be performed. H/she should be licensed to purchase a gun. An annual fee for each weapon should be charged to pay for monitoring gun ownership. This monitoring is not the responsibility of the public.
There is inadequate information about this terrible problem. The National Association to End Homelessness encourages the organization of local forums that draw attention to the growing numbers of homeless youth in our society. Youth living on the street are in fear of being picked up by the police for minor offenses and jailed or put in detention facilities. They are often sexually and physically abused, both on the street and in detention. They suffer malnutrition, a series of illnesses and traumatic stress disease.
