Because
we do not support discrimination of any kind, we only offer grants
to singles/couples working with agencies/facilitators who adhere
to our policies. Please contact our office for further explanation.
Foster
Families
We hope to establish families within foreign countries as foster
parents for children that cannot be adopted. This allows continued
movement of children from institutional settings in to loving
homes. The families are monitored and are often supported on a
one-on-one basis by families here in the U.S.
A close relationship
typically develops between the foster and American families and
provides a way for us to truly be a global community. Regular
medical and social updates can be provided. Families are encouraged
to correspond with both the child and the foster family. Translation
is provided whenever needed.
Institutional
Assistance
We provide assistance to institutions with which we have developed
a relationship, so that we can insure donations are used as intended.
We focus our efforts toward those in severe need. Each institution
must follow our strict ethical guidelines and submit to unscheduled
inspections.
Food, medical
supplies, appliances, educational games, blankets, coats, and
shoes/boots are examples of items that have been donated to orphanages.
We purchase and monitor all humanitarian aid and keep records
of the assistance as required by US law.
We accept
donations for general or specified purposes. Donations can be
either monetary or specific items. Due to shipping costs many
items are more cost effectively purchased inside the country by
our representatives. Please contact our office before gathering
any items. Examples are:
We also work
in conjunction with established programs and organizations where
our combined efforts increase the assistance the children will
receive such as:
-
Assisting
the Ukrainian Children’s Fund, an organization that helps
Ukrainian families who have adopted children by providing food,
clothing, bedding, etc.
Volunteer
Programs
We coordinate groups who wish to volunteer time to upgrade and
maintain orphanages. Examples of projects include:
Upgrading a playground including repairing and painting play equipment.
Fixing and upgrading plumbing / bathroom facilities.
-
Structural
maintenance and/or improvements
-
Painting
projects
-
Installation
of appliances
-
Making
clothes or bedding materials.
Coordination
includes identifying facilities where work is needed, listing
documents that will be required, travel and lodging arrangements,
acquisition of materials, permits/permission if required, and
so on.
Student
Internships
We coordinate arrangements for students who have interest in volunteering
their skills. Students from fields of social work, early childhood
development, pediatrics, nutrition, facilities management, administration,
and so on are welcome to participate.
Most universities have programs to allow students a self designed
internship for credit towards their major area of study. If your
university does not and you would like to start a rewarding program
please contact us for examples of what students have done while
at the orphanages for college credit. The possibilities are limitless!
